YouVersion launches its first ever Regional Hub in Brazil

Bible App creators open their first international office in Belo Horizonte with a focus on Portuguese

After years of developing Brazilian partnerships and building up Portuguese biblical content in the Bible App, YouVersion is investing even more deeply in Brazil by launching its first-ever Regional Hub in Belo Horizonte. With a team of 14, the Brazil Regional Hub will work alongside local content partners and churches to create an experience that helps people connect with God’s Word on a more personal level.

“It’s important to us that, no matter where someone is in the world, when they open the Bible App, they’re able to find quality biblical content that brings them closer to God in their native language,” said Bobby Gruenewald, YouVersion Founder and CEO. “With the opening of YouVersion’s first Regional Hub in Brazil, we’re excited to continue working to help Portuguese speakers know the Bible App is for them.”

The Bible App is seeing incredible momentum across Brazil, which is the second-highest country in the world for installs with more than 64 million since the app launched in 2008. Incredibly, people aren’t just installing the app, but are returning to consistently engage in the Bible. Every day, more than 1 million people in Brazil open the Bible App and more than 10,000 Portuguese Bible Plans are completed.

“This level of Bible engagement wouldn’t be possible without our more than 100 Brazilian partners who are passionate about contributing content that helps people experience God’s love,” said Nando Valente, Brazil Regional Hub Leader. “Bible societies, publishers, church leaders, authors, artists, and more—our ministry wouldn’t be possible without them.”

YouVersion began working with Brazilian partners within the first year of the Bible App’s launch in 2008 and has intentionally focused on expanding Portuguese offerings in Brazil since 2019. Over the last year, Valente has worked with partners to increase Portuguese content in the Bible App. With his new team in place, he hopes to recruit more partners and create even more regionally-relevant content as a reflection of YouVersion’s commitment to Brazil and the Portuguese language.

“The Bible App has become an indispensable tool for Brazilians who are seeking to grow in their faith,” said Valente. “We’re honored that our new office will serve as a strategic center for building relationships as we strive to add more content that’s produced by Brazilians for Brazilians.”
