How does YouVersion Platform define commercial use?
Non-commercial use is defined by the end-user experience. Specifically, applications integrating Platform Services must:
- Be free to the end user (no subscriptions, purchases, or upgrades).
- Not place Scripture or Scripture-dependent features behind paywalls.
- Not include advertising, sponsorships, or other monetization.
Additionally, Scripture may not be used in a way that enables revenue generation, directly or indirectly.
Can I use the Platform commercially?
No. YouVersion Platform is designed for nonprofit, ministry, and community use.
What is an SDK and an API?
SDKs offer pre-built UI components for faster development. APIs give you full control to build custom Scripture experiences.
